When you purchase an item from a grocery store do you read the label and find that you can’t identify many of the ingredients on the package? Did you know that the traditional grocery store or supermarket that we now know is a fairly new concept? The first large supermarkets came on the scene in the 1930’s. Prior to that we still made most of the foods we consumed. We fermented, pickled, preserved, dried, made yogurt and yes, even made our own cheese. Over time we have come to rely more and more on others for own food needs. We intend to change that.
Food is loved and shared by all and we aim to bring you the ultimate food growing and enjoying experience. We want to take forgotten traditional skills and show you how easy it is to create your own preserved bounty from your garden, allowing you to enjoy the treasures of your harvest all year round.
We want to show you how easy it is make your own jam, pickle your own cucumbers, ferment vegetables, sprout, cook with cast iron, make homemade delicious yogurt and yes even cheese! Making your own food gives you a new sense of accomplishment and control over your food choices.
